If you’re gonna do a ‘throwback thursday’s’ type feature on a hip hop site, you might as well do it properly. Every Sunday i’m gonna be posting some of the seminal tracks from hip hop history, tickling the memories of fans of old school and even broadening the playlists of people who think rap starts and ends with Kanye West.
All things considered it seems only right to start this one way. Whilst Rapper’s Delight is widely considered as the first rap song to make its way into the mainstream, Kurtis Blows’ The Breaks was the first to go gold.
